Voice-Action for House 48 - 005

[It's way late into the night, or way early into the morning, whichever works for you and Kazuma was out of bed and about in House 48. Another sleepless night, they've been getting so frequent. He settled himself in the kitchen, thinking he could make himself some tea, something to eat maybe. He plops both his journals onto the table, thinking he could just write long enough to fall asleep again.

Once he got himself a cup of tea, he seats himself at the table, pressing his hands against the sides of his head. Having these nightmares and hallucinations can leave you with a nasty headache. ]

[Voice]

Is...Is there anyone awake right now? [Please let there someone be awake to talk to, anyone to keep his sanity. He can still faintly hear those voices in the back of his head. A part of him almost wished Terumi was still here, but...they would tell him it's wrong.

"Oh, but I am still here. I'll always be here for you."] ...I just want someone to talk to.

[Someone that's actually there...An idea then pops into his head a few minutes later. Of course he could ask him now. Why didn't he think of him before? Although...he was hesitant about it as it was very late.]

Professor...I'm sorry to bother you at this hour, but I'm having difficulty sleeping...I'm hearing things again.

Years? [He looks concern now, forgetting the mention of tea for the moment.] Miss Litchi...what is it that you have? It's...It's not going to become a threat to your life is it?

[At this point, he probably thinks Litchi might have gotten cancer :|]

[All this time in Luceti and it's still hard to talk about this. But she can't keep it a secret.]

...I came in far too close contact with the Boundary back home.

[She's sure he has to know what that means. Severe seithr poisoning, at the very least, even if he doesn't know about the timelines intersecting.]

The Malnosso put a stop to the effects of it when I was here before, but... well, unfortunately, that was undone when I was sent back. [re: yes, this will be a threat to her life at some point, somehow.]

The Boundary? [He's heard the term before from the Professor and in his studies. Aware of how risky it is to be anywhere near the Boundary, Litchi's condition really worries him now. He stands, moving closer to her.]

Why were you anywhere near the Boundary in the first place? I don't know the exact cause of being in close contact with the Boundary, but...I know enough that a person's condition only gets worse overtime.

It's something of a long story how I ended up near it, but... to cut it short, I was trying to save a very dear friend. I couldn't think of any other way to help him.

[Although obtaining the same power that destroyed him may not have been the best course of action.]

As for the effects... well, they're a little difficult to explain. It breaks down the body and the mind both. [Struggling to put on an optimistic face, she gives a ghost of a smile.] But it's slowed down quite some bit here. I should have more than enough time to find a cure.

[A frown. Clearly Litchi's response wasn't good enough for Kazuma] Can't you ask the Malnosso to stop it again? Or I can get the Professor...! Professor Relius, he arrived last month and I think he's familiar with the Boundary and might be able to help you.

[She actually looks a little startled when he suggests Relius.] N-no! I mean... I'm sure the Malnosso can help. After all, they helped before. I just need to think of a way to ask that they may actually consider.

[There would have to be something in it for them, she's sure.]

[Captain Oblivious.] Oh...well, don't wait too long.

[And you can bet Kazuma will be asking her almost everyday how she's feeling. He really...really doesn't want to see anything bad happen to Litchi. Maybe he could at least let Relius know and see if he could work on something.]

Really, if that doesn't work out, ask the Professor.

[Nope. Not asking Relius. She may have resorted to that back in Kagutsuchi, but she knows better here. Here, it isn't her last option. But she just nods, playing along.]

I'm sure we'll figure something out very soon. But please, don't worry about me; I'll be just fine.

[Never you mind when she starts coughing up blood again someday. That is nothing of concern.]

Now what about you? Are you feeling okay or could you just not sleep?

[You better stay fine or else :| And now the subject goes back to him...and he remembers what exactly had been bothering him.]

...The latter. I have these headaches sometimes and they keep me up. [...] And every once in a while I have these dreams as someone else...fighting Ragna.

[Small, thoughtful frown. For some reason or another, this is sounding familiar, but she'll see it through.]

Dreams as someone else?

...[He turns away from her, deciding to start make some tea. He just couldn't bring himself to look at her at the moment]

Was there a reason why you let me stay here? Is it really out of the goodness of your heart or...a different reason?

[Oh, Kazuma. She gives him a small smile.]

I wanted you to stay here because I was worried about you. I wanted to be sure you were eating and taking care of yourself. If there was anything I could do to help you, I wanted to. That's all.

...You're too kind, Miss Litchi. [He turns on the stove, still not looking at her]

Were you ever in contact with someone name Hakumen?

[She glances over at him curiously, knowing he isn't looking back but not necessarily caring.]

...Yes. Once here, and once back in our world. Neither one ended all that well, I'm afraid. [Thank heaven Bang came by when he did, or she's sure she would have been killed.] Why do you ask?

He said some things about me...to a number of people from our world as I was made aware. [It's now that he glances over at Litchi]

Do you know what I'm talking about?

[It takes her a moment to remember, but then she gives a small nod.]

If you mean him mentioning that you were from quite some time into the past, then yes. But considering the fluid nature of time in Luceti, I never thought it mattered much.

No not-... [Hold on] He didn't tell you?

I suppose not? That's all he mentioned to me. Why, what was it?

...I thought-- [Kazuma, you really do think worse case scenarios always happen. Well, he can't really hide it now. He's been meaning to say something to Litchi anyway]

Well, there was more to that...he knew why I looked the I way do. [He glances back at the kettle] People were right to have their suspicions of me...because I am connected to Captain Hazama.

[She blinks, a little confused for a moment, before she starts to get the feeling she already knows where this is going. Whether that's because of Boundary feedback or something else, she isn't sure.]

...Connected how?

He's...I'm- [Suddenly this became extremely difficult to say]

The Captain that you see in your time, that's...my body. I was basically created as his body replacement. That's why I can't remember after a certain point, and I always keep having the same dream...fighting Ragna. [He presses his hand on one side of his head] And hearing voices. That's why I'm awake right now. That's why I thought...maybe you were just keeping me here because of what I become.

[Litchi pales a bit, stunned into silence for a moment. A body replacement? Of course, it seems like something Terumi would be capable of, but... hearing it spoken out loud gives it an all new weight. After a beat or two, she shakes her head.]

I... I'm sorry, Kazuma, I didn't know until now. But that doesn't change anything. You're still part of my family here, regardless. But...

[Dreams from someone who's you, but isn't. Can she ever relate to that. And the voices...]

...I just wish there was something more I could do to help.

... [He'll just finish making tea for them both in silence. He doesn't really know what else to say just yet until he offers Litchi a cup.]

You've...done more than what I would have ever expected. [There's a small smile] I really don't deserve such kindness.

[She answers that smile with a warm one of her own as she takes the teacup from him.]

Of course you do. Everyone deserves kindness, especially someone like you. You certainly don't need anyone giving you a hard time on top of everything else.

But...I haven't really done anything. [Trinity was the same way as well.]

I just don't understand. I always feel like people just want something if they're being nice or talking to me.
